What is special about this choice is that
usually we say «руссиш» when talking about languages!
When we talk about other things (traditions, food, songs, etc) the only Russian word for Russian we can use is «русский».

‘Hello, darling. What language shall we speak today?’ — ‘Let’s try russisch, shall we?’
EXAMPLE
A Russian tourist goes abroad and makes friends with a Mexican couple who speak a little Russian. He returns home and talks about his new friends. ‘In what language did you speak to each other?’ he is asked. ‘Mostly in English, but they speak «руссиш» too,’ he says.
