Bad words in Russian, part 2. Expressions in which we mention Japan

Hello everyone! I bet you have been waiting for the part 2, haven’t you? Oh, yes, I know you like these naughty articles of mine, don’t you? Ok, no more teasing: today I am going to teach you two nice phrases in Russian, in which we mention Japanese stuff.

Read, listen and learn them and you will sound more Russian than many Russians sound.

Here are these bad words in Russian: «японский бог» and «японский городовой». What do they mean and how do you translate them?

Японский бог means ‘Japanese God’. I wonder what kind of god is meant. And I wonder why it is specifically Japanese god that is mentioned.

Японский городовой means ‘Japanese policeman’. The word «городовой» is not used any longer in the Russian language, because in previous centuries it used to be a name for a lowest rank in police departments. There is no such rank any more. No rank – no word.

We have no pictures of Japanese gods or Japanese policemen. The closest we have to it is a photo of Chinese martial arts. Enjoy! 😉

Examples of using bad words in Russian with Japanese stuff

1) Да японский бог, куда делся мой телефон! – Gosh, where is the hell my cell phone!

2) Да японский городовой! Меня опять оштрафовала полиция! – Blast it, I have been fined by police again!

3) Японский бог, я забыл выключить утюг! – Oh shit, I forgot to turn the iron off!

4) Японский бог, мы опаздываем! – Damn, we are getting late!

You might have noticed that I used Да in front of some expressions. In these cases it doesn’t mean Yes (and remember that Да-да-да never means Yes), it stands for emphasizing your emotions.
