The interesting thing is, the word very (очень) in Russian can be used on its own! For example, if you ask someone in English, ‘Did you enjoy your vacation?’ you can say ‘Yes, very much’ in reply. Ok, the word very in Russian in most cases sound like Очень. Here are some examples.
1) You are very beautiful – in Russian it sounds like «Ты очень красивая».
2) You are a very nice person – in Russian is «Ты очень хороший человек».
3) I love you very much – in Russian is «Я тебя очень люблю».

Do you want to feed a tiger? — Очень! Do you think tigers are beautiful? — Очень!
4) I like you very much – in Russian is «Ты мне очень нравишься».
5) You look very good! – in Russian is «Ты очень хорошо выглядишь».
6) This car is very expensive – we would say «Это очень дорогая машина».
7) I am very well / Everything is very well – in Russian is «У меня все очень хорошо» / «Всё очень хорошо».
8) The beach was very bad — in Russian is «Пляж был очень плохой».

Or the beach was very beautiful — Пляж был очень красивый.
9) The Game of Thrones show is very interesting — in Russian is «Игра престолов» — очень интересный сериал».

But the common ‘Thank you very much’ is translated differently, without очень. Thank you very much in Russian is «Большое спасибо». It’s like ‘A big thanks to you’. Sounds funny, huh? 😉
How to say very in Russian in replies to questions
As I said in the beginning of this article, in Russian you can use very (очень) on its own. Mostly you can do that when you are answering a question and want to say ‘Very much’ or ‘Very good’ or ‘Very well’. Let’s have a look at a couple of examples.
1) Is she beautiful? – Очень.

Did you like the food? — ОЧЕНЬ! Like you have to ask 😉
2) Did you like the food? – Очень!
3) Do you want to go to Spain? – Очень!
4) Do you think Chinese is difficult? – Очень.
5) Was the party good? – Очень.
